Representatives of Ghor province (Afghanistan) NGO’s and administration attend the organisational management trainings

On the 6th of November at the Lithuanian Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) camp in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan the Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC) launches the organisational management trainings for the representatives of Ghor province non-governmental (NGO) sector and administration. 15 representatives will learn about human resource management, community organising and empowerment, principles of planning and directedness, develop their competences of organising. The trainings are lead by the Lithuanian experts, Mr Paulius Godvadas and Mrs Vilija Navickaitė, sent by EESC.

“While planning the succesful transition in Afghanistan, it is important to contribute to the creation of the vibrant civil society, which is capable of taking responsibility for the development of the country”,- emphasizes Mrs Kristina Vaičiūnaitė, the Director of the EESC. “Though the infrastructure of Ghor province has considerably improved during the last seven years, enhancement of the human capacities shouldn’t be overlooked – experience and knowledge sharing among Afghani and Lithuanian experts could contribute to more effective governance of the province.”

Trainings, meetings with the local NGOs and governor of Ghor province is part of the project “Enhancing organisational management capacities of the representatives of administration and nongovernmental sector of Ghor Province of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Organisational development: from community empowerment to participation in the global processes” implemented by the EESC. The project aims to enhance the local capacities in organisational management, contribute to the development of local organisations, thus contributing to the successful responsibility handover to the government of Afghanistan. The project is funded through the Development Cooperation and Promotion of Democracy Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Lithuania.

Since 2010 the EESC has been implementing programmes aimed at enhancing the capacities of Ghor province NGOs and administration. Trainings on project management, strategic planning, fundraising have been provided; the EESC has assisted fundraising for seven projects prepared by the local Afghani NGOs.
