Aug 4, 2014 | 2014, News

EESC together with a Lithuanian news portal DELFI have launched a project “Putin‘s Russia”. The project is devoted to the analysis of the Putin’s system of rule, including Putin’s closest associates and their influence to the regime. The first analysis “Vladimir Putin’s Pyramid of Rule: Who Really Governs Russia?” by Marius Laurinavičius, Laurynas Kasčiūnas and Vytautas Keršanskas denies popular conviction that Putin’s system of rule is like a monolith pyramid and instead introduces reader to the main clans and their leaders who are controlling Russia. According to the authors, Putin is not an irreplaceable leader-statesman solely making key decisions, as often presented in public media, but rather an arbiter and moderator responsible for managing and controlling the competition between different groups of the political elite.

The analysis “Vladimir Putin’s Pyramid of Rule: Who Really Governs Russia?” is access free and can be read in LithuanianEnglish and Russian.
