Conference Findings Presented at the EEAS Panel on Co-operation in the Area of CSDP

On April 25, EESC Policy Analyst Dovile Sukyte attended the European External Action Service organized Panel on Co-operation in the Area of Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) within the Eastern Partnership (EaP) Platform on Democracy, Good Governance and Stability, where she presented the key findings of the International Security Experts Conference “EU Global Strategy: Eastern Partners in European Security”. The Conference provided a platform for government officials, civil society and security experts from six EaP countries, EU Member States, and representatives of the EU institutions to discuss current security challenges in and around Europe, as well as the EaP countries’ representatives to voice their security concerns, contribute to the ongoing debate on the new EU Global Strategy and share ideas for greater EU-EaP co-operation in security and defence areas.

The event, which took place on March 2-4, 2016, was co-organised by EESC and the Lithuanian Ministry of National Defence in close cooperation with the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union Institute for Security Studies, the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, and the National Centre for Strategic Studies (Poland).  It was held in the framework of the Panel on co-operation in the area of CSDP within the EaP Platform on Democracy, Good Governance and Stability, and was co-funded by the European Commission.
